TO EAT & DRINK : MEET ME AT THE ROCKS

I’m going to be honest – I hadn’t been to The Rocks at Aquarius before! But my uncle Charly has been raving about it for a while now, so I decided to give it a spin with my mum recently, and I have to say that I’m officially a big, big fan!The Rocks at Aquarius do some pretty epic lunch specials (the specials change daily), so you can always be sure of something new and tasty to try for just $15 with either a wine, beer, or soft drink. Our salmon was cooked perfectly (or as I like to call it medium rare), with crispy skin, and the béarnaise sauce was a masterstroke with the zucchini and bok choy, a rather delicate flavour profile that went beautifully with our glass of Sav Blanc!

We also got stuck into two generous and succulent Duck Pancakes with all the usual trimmings for just $12. If you are looking for something super healthy, nourishing, and flavour jumping, I’d seriously recommend you get amongst the Green Bowl ($15.50) – it’s piled high with all the goodies you’d expect, and can easily be vegan if your heart so desires. Though, I’ve gotta say, I do think the perfectly sunny-side-up free-range egg perched on top looks rather sexy!

If breakfast is more your thang, then you will be well fed and catered for with classics like Eggs Benedict for $19.50. Or dive into one of their daily breakfast specials; like my fav the belly-lovely Huevos Ranchos with beans, pico do gallo, avocado cream, jalapeño salsa, and fried eggs on a tortilla – $15 with a coffee, juice, or tea, Si Senorita! Or the ever-popular Corn Fritters for $18.50, with poached eggs, tomato, rocket, grilled halloumi, and spicy tomato relish.

If you’re a local then rejoice, my fabulous friends, because you simply just need to mention that you’re a local to your waiter and guess what?! You get 10 per cent off your bill, yep for real!

Ah, and if you are looking to book a cocktail party or fab function with friends, these guys are starting to open in the evenings for private parties in the coming weeks! With various canapé options and even a barbecue menu too, give Patrick the manager a call for all the info!

The Rocks is open for breakfast every day from 7 till 11.40am (coffee from 6.30am) and lunch from 12 noon till 2pm. Happy Hour is offered every day from 12 noon till 2pm! So you can enjoy your favourite alcoholic beverage with your bacon and eggs on toast, should you desire!

My love of fresh seasonal produce shared and enjoyed around a big table with family and friends started as a young girl for me, and it's a love that has stayed with me my whole life. I am inspired to write recipes that are produce driven, recipes that enhance and showcase fresh local seasonal produce, created to be shared with family and friends. After all great food should be celebrated!
