I don’t know about you …….. but I take my love of all things oysters pretty darn seriously! So I was thrilled to be be invited to the Balcony Bar & Oyster Co’s media event to launch the start of the annual “Oyster Festival” …… giddy up!
Every year the team at Balcony Bar & Oyster Co. raise their dedication to sourcing and serving the best oysters to a whole new level, and this year is no exception! If you like you oysters plump, briney and luscious then this is your your kinda festival!
On the menu each and every day is $1.50 Shuck Yeah Oysters, shucked fresh and served natural or with your choice of a bunch of divine sauces that will make your tastebuds sing that little bit louder! My favourite way of eating oysters is le naturale, but occasionally I like to break the rules!! My favourite rule breaking sauce on the night was the Chardonnay Vinegar Granita.
If fried oysters are more your flavour party gig, than you seriously need to wrap our tongue around the Crumbed Oysters $18 w green pea tartare OR Chicken Fried Oyster Sliders $24 w oyster mayo and milk bun.
Now it takes a talented and dedicated chef to pull off a Carpet Bag Steak $48, that is mindblowingly epic! Executive Chef Sean Connolly and his team have done just that in flavour stereo!! The steak is soooooo tender and ……. well frankly bloody stunning actually! And the oysters inside, were still plump and juicy and somehow manage to retrain their oyster flavour without getting lost in the awesomeness of the steak ……. yep I told ya the team here where good!
I’ve eaten a many a ho-hum Chowder in my time, thankfully these guys have restored my faith in this American classic. The layers of flavour achieved here truely spectacular! And who’s ever idea it was to add duck fat fries to the equation is a freck’n genius!!
The Oyster Festival runs for the month of August, so get yourself down to the Balcony Bar & Oyster Co. like stat!
Until next time!
